Well, this weekend was another busy weekend. The girls were actually at grandma's for the weekend and Richard and I went out car shopping. I ended up trading in my beautiful baby blue Ford Taurus for a beautiful silver moss Saturn Outlook. People say we change cars more than we change clothes and it's probably true but an SUV is a much better choice than my car. It sits 8 so all the girls will fit perfectly and very comfortable without sitting shoulder to shoulder. I am loving it. The girls loved it too. They were so happy when I picked them up from grandma's in the new suv. Abrial got in and went straight to the back where the third row seats are and Madyssen sat behind me. They loved being able to sit where ever they wanted.
However, I did have to break the news to them that we had to take back the dog we just got. :-( While we were out shopping for cars we got a call from the neighbor that our dog kept jumping the fence to play with the neighborhood kids. We had her on a 2 week trial and we decided to take her back because we were too afraid that we'd be at work and she'd jump the fence and get hurt. It was heart breaking because I know I fell in love with that dog pretty quickly and the girls absolutely loved her too but I think it was for the best. We will find another dog that's maybe a bit smaller and won't try jumping the fence. I'm sure we will find the right dog when it's the right time.
So that was our weekend. No relaxing around our house. lol. Now we all have a nice short week with a wonderful holiday coming up and we are all excited. Gotta love spending time with family. :-)
This blog is about our life with Autism. My 12 year old daughter has autism and my 11 year old daughter has ADHD and this blog is about our life and trials and how wonderful this life can be.

Big Weekend
What a great weekend we had! Friday night the girls watch movies in their room with popcorn while we watched Harry Potter. (They are still a little young for Harry Potter) Then Saturday we went out to eat at Mellow Mushroom with the whole family and one of Heather's (my stepdaughter and the girls big sister) friend. After lunch we went looking for a new dog since we lost our last doggie to liver problems. We still miss her but there has been a void at our house. We all missed having a dog around. So we went looking for a new dog and just happened to find a wonderful dog! She stuck out for us immediately because she was the only dog there who was not barking or jumping on the gate. We got to take her out and about and get to know her and we all just fell in love with her. She is actually a tornado survivor dog from the April 27th tornados that came through Alabama. Soon after we adopted her and thanks to my best friend Hilary we got her home within a couple hours.
We let her loose in the backyard and she ran like she was in heaven. She ran all over the backyard and played with us and just explored around. We stayed outside with her first to make sure she felt comfortable and then let the girls out and she is just so gently and loving with us as well as all the girls. She is even gentle when taking a treat out of our hands. She is so calm and loving. She barely barks and she listens very well. The girls absolutely love her.
Then today after playing with the new doggie we went to lunch and then we went to see Puss in Boots at the movie theater. It was Abrial's very first time seeing a movie in the theater and she did fantastic! You could tell Madyssen had a little bit of a hard time sitting still but she did great! And I had Abrial's headphones just in case the movies was too loud but she didn't ask for them once. She loved every minute of the movie. I was so proud! I have been putting off the movies for so long because I was worried about her reaction to it but she loved it! The minute she saw the screen her mouth dropped. It was the cutest thing ever!
Now we are all relaxing and getting ready for our week ahead. The girls had a great weekend and this mama is exhausted. :-)

Hello and Welcome!
For beginners I'd like to say Hi and thank you for taking the time to read along as we live our lives, grow, go through the crazy times, and the lovely times with us and our life with autism. I am a 29 year old mother of two precious girls. My daughter Abrial is almost 10 years old and she was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 2 1/2. My other daughter is Madyssen and she is almost 9 and she was just diagnosed with ADHD about a year ago. We've had our share of trials and I'm sure we will have plenty more as we grow and learn more and more about this wonderful diagnoses.
Abrial started the Early Intervention Program at the local elementary school when she was 3 and it was the best thing I could have ever done for her. I so wasn't planning on losing her to school so quickly but I worry what might have happened now if I hadn't. She went from barely talking and whinning and not looking at you at all to saying full blown sentences and asking for what she wants instead of whinning and she would even start looking you right in the eye! After a few years it was hard to even notice she has autism. Even today you wouldn't notice right off unless I told you. It's amazing. Her autism is very mild but it's still there. She loves to repeat things over and over again, especially things she hears on television and movies. She attaches to things very easily like certain toys and movies. She'll find a movie she likes and she'll want to watch that one movie over and over for days even weeks in a row. I have to make her change it most of the time. She will get attached to one kind of toy and that is the only toys that matter. It started with those fisher price little people and then it went to these princesses and now it's Lalaloopsys, the big ones and the little ones. And she would stay on the computer 24/7 if I let her. It's amazing talking to her everyday because she never fails to surprise me. I am truly blessed to be her mother. :-)
Madyssen was diagnosed with ADHD about a year ago. We knew something was going on we were just not sure what. Finally we decided to have her tested and sure enough she was diagnosed with ADHD. We were not surprised but at the same time it's hard when your suspicions are confirmed. We put her on regular medication and she has blossomed! She's doing fantastic in school now and can focus where as she couldn't before. I am so proud of her. Now unlike Abrial she wants to talk your ear off. She's still learning as we all are. We have daily trials and there are days I think I might pull my hair out but I wouldn't trade either of my kids for the world.
Both of my children are my life and I am so thankful that just last month I got married and we added a big sister for them to the family. Now we are a wonderful little family of 5 and I'm sure I can speak for us all when I say we are loving it. :-)
Thanks for reading and I hope you join us on our journey of life with Autism.
